Understanding the Challenge

Supporting Cognitive Function

The cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia is deeply challenging for individuals and their families.

While there is no cure, exploring methods to support remaining cognitive function and improve daily quality of life is an important part of a comprehensive care plan. Our goal when working with age-related cognitive decline is to support the brain's remaining neuroplasticity.

At Center for NeuroFitness in St. Augustine, FL, we focus on gentle, non-invasive methods aimed at helping the brain maximize its current capabilities. By training the brain to regulate itself more effectively, we can often help manage the frustration, anxiety, and agitation that frequently accompany cognitive decline.

Clear, Realistic Communication

With more than 15 years of experience, our BCIA Board Certified Fellow prioritizes clear, realistic communication. We provide families with honest assessments and compassionate guidance throughout the brain training process.

Our Approach

Our Assessment and Training Process

We approach Alzheimer's and dementia with deep respect and careful assessment, utilizing advanced technology to tailor our support.

Objective Brain Mapping

We often begin our process with a comprehensive Brain Map. This gives us objective data to understand current brain activity.

By mapping the brain, we can identify specific areas of connectivity issues or dysregulation. This detailed understanding allows us to establish a baseline and determine the most appropriate gentle training protocol.

EEG Neurofeedback

We utilize neurofeedback to gently target areas of the brain associated with memory, focus, and emotional regulation.

This non-invasive training can help the brain find a more stable state. Frequently, families report that neurofeedback helps reduce the severe anxiety, agitation, and sleep disturbances that make daily life with cognitive decline so difficult.
